What type of microscope is needed to see an animal cell?

Many microscope types exist to see different cells. It all depends on what you’re looking for. A compound light microscope is a good place to start if you are looking for an animal cell, as it has the necessary equipment needed for this type of cell. A compound light microscope functions by projecting light through a specimen and then magnifying the image that the light reflects off of it.

To see the tiniest components of an animal cell, a light microscope is needed. The first level of magnification gives you a view of parts of cells, such as the nucleus, which is an organelle that regulates genetic material. You can also see the cell membrane which controls what chemicals are allowed into and out of the cell to help control activity.
